1979 – 1985 faculty of treatment and prophylaxis of Azerbaijan Medical University, Baku, Azerbaijan.
1985 – 1987residency in the department of thoracic oncology of All-Union Oncological Scientific Center of the USSR, Moscow, Russia.
1987 – 1988 junior scientific officer in Azerbaijan Roentgenology, Radiology and Oncology Scientific Research Institution of the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan SSR.
1988 – 1991postgraduate study at the department of thoracic oncology of All-Union Oncological Scientific Center of the USSR, Moscow, Russia.
Scientific activity
Dr. Soltanov A.A. is a high level specialist in the field of clinical oncology.
In 1991 he defended PhD dissertation on subject “Difficulties, mistakes and complications of surgical treatment for lung cancer” in Russian Oncological Scientific Center, Moscow.
In 2012 he defended doctoral dissertation on subject “Epidemiological aspects of lung cancer spreading in Azerbaijan”.
He published more than 170 scientific articles one of which is monograph. The number of scientific researches were done under the head of Dr. Soltanov.

1991 – 1992 junior scientific officer in National Center of Oncology, Baku, Azerbaijan.
1992 – 1999head of thoracic surgery department in Central Military Hospital of Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan Republic.
1/1999 –head of thoracic oncology department of National Center of Oncologyof Ministry of Public Health of Azerbaijan Republic.
