Professor of the Department of Internal Medicine of Azerbaijan Medical University, doctor of medical sciences, Honored Scientist of Azerbaijan, Acting member of the International Academy of Sciences, Chairman of the Rheumatology Group of Azerbaijan Medical Association (ATA) Sahib Musayev was born in 1952 in the Chimkent province of Kazakhstan.

In 1954 his family returned to the Marneuli region of Georgia. He graduated from AMI named after Nariman Narimanov. He worked as a cardiologist at Baku Emergency Medical Care Station. He studied at the post-graduate studentship of the Academy od Medical Sciencies of the USSR in 1981-1984, and in its doctorate program in 1987-1991. He was engaged in academic activity in the Central Basin Hospital (Kaspar) named after Gadirli, as well as in the Department of Internal Diseases of the AMU named after N.Narimanov.
Sahib Musayev’s candidate dissertation was “Clinical-immunological features of systemic scleroderma”, and his doctoral dissertation was “Rheumatoid syndrome in patients with thalassemia”. As a professor at the same department, he continues his medical and scientific activities, dealing with diffuse diseases. He is a member of the International Society for Immunorehabilitation and a diplomate of the European League of Rheumatologists. Professor Sahib Musayev currently works as a department head in the Training and Therapeutic Clinic of the AMU, where at the same time he is engaged in academic activity.
Under his leadership, 5 doctors-residents are being trained for practical medicine in the Training and Therapeutic Clinic of the AMU in 2018. He is also a consultant in the Hospital of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
He regularly makes the informative talks in mass media and on TV and radio.
Since 2000 up to the present day he has been actively involved in preparation of rheumatologists in Azerbaijan. Under his leadership, six people have successfully received the PhD in medical sciences and work in different clinics in the country.
Since 2000, he has been attending the most congresses of other respected science societies in Europe and the world.
He is included in the team of expert rheumatologists of the CIS countries. Therefore, he actively participates in the rheumatologic congresses in the different countries of the world and delivers the scientific reports in the events.
He represents Azerbaijan every year at the Congress of the European Antirheumatic League.
He is one of the co-authors of “Guidelines of separate forms of rheumatic diseases”, written annually for qualified cadres of the CIS countries. Moreover he is the author of the monograph titled “Intra-articular Injection” for resident physicians, senior students and practitioners. He is also the author of many other scientific articles and monographs published in the international and local scientific and medical journals.
The subject of the dissertation defended under his leadership in 2018 was “Damage to the gastrointestinal system in patients with rheumatoid arthritis”.
